Dr.Marneni a Dallas Orthodontist says, “using Invisalign is a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth”. The invisalign braces process involves the creation of clear molds that act as aligners to straighten your teeth. These braces are made after your orthodontist  records impressions of your teeth and sends them to an Invisalign lab. A series of removable clear aligners, custom-made for your teeth and worn for six to 12 months, gradually move your teeth into position without the need for wires or clips.

Dr.Marneni says that “invisalign is affordable alternative to lingual braces, and more aesthetically pleasing than labial braces”. Invisalign is suitable for adults of all ages, including those with narrow and wide jaws. Invisalign braces are primarily for adults and not for children who are expecting their adult teeth to grown in. The appliance must be worn almost full-time to work best. However Dr.Marneni says “as these aligners must be removed for eating, a soft diet is not necessary during treatment”. She also says the aligners must also be removed for cleaning, which means there is no excuse for poor oral hygiene throughout Invisalign treatment. Dr. Marneni says “there is a waiting time while your aligners are custom-made but treatment time may be shorter than with other braces and can be accelerated with the optional use of an electronic device called Acceledent”.

Explaining the use of Invisalign Dr. Marneni says “if a patient doesn’t wear aligners for the recommended hours per day it can affect the ability to finish on time and get desired results”.

The obvious advantage in using Invisalign braces is its cosmetic value and the aligners are entirely transparent, making them less detectable than traditional bracket and wire braces. The dental team says this strengthens their appeal among patients who look to correct their teeth misalignment without the strained look of metal braces when smiling. Dr. Marneni says “people using invisalign have to remove the trays for eating and before replacing them you have to brush and floss while metal braces cannot be removed when eating or brushing the teeth”. Dr.Marneni says that she had found that most of her patients’ oral hygiene has improved and also people using invisalign lost weight because they snack less. Clinically, Invisalign braces lessen the risk of gum problems that often result with metal braces over time including tooth decay.

The cost of invisalign might vary anywhere from $3,000 to $9,000 depending on the dentist and your location. Dr. Marneni says “the choice of Invisalign braces is often more expensive than regular metal braces and the price is determined by the orthodontist based on the severity of the correction required and the length of the treatment”. If a patient case is a simple one, a process called Invisalign Lite, with fewer aligners, may be prescribed which is relatively cheaper than standard Invisalign.

On whole, Invisalign is a great orthodontic solution for people who want a straight smile without wearing braces and also advantages include general comfort and the ability to take them out when eating and cleaning your teeth.
